If you make a reservation through the app, you'll receive a notification to report to the host stand when your table is ready. Excellent added-fee options include steak, seafood and teppanyaki, which might be worth trying if you're celebrating a special occasion or feeling like a splurge. Done up in bright, tropical colors, these rooms offer extended outdoor lounge space and private access to the Havana Pool and Bar area. In terms of food and drinks, I had a strange experience at Chibang!
I tried Carnival's older cruise ships and never want to go back
The ship was also built to be powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), marking another first for the vessel, as it’s the first LNG-powered ship that will call North America home. Carnival first signed with a Finnish shipbuilder for the vessel in 2016, with a projected delivery date of 2020. And while the ship was indeed delivered in 2020, many delays occurred along the process, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and shipyard fires, which pushed the ship’s debut date from summer 2020 to summer 2021.

You can stop for lunch and grab tacos or a burrito that’s fresh, fast, and easy. The suggested attire for women on such nights is cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses. Passengers who wish to avoid dressing up can enjoy dinner in any of the casual eateries aboard. Passengers link credit cards to their onboard accounts or put up a set amount of cash to charge against, using their keycards as a means of making purchases.
What I don't love about Carnival Jubilee
Most people don’t know this, so the area stays pretty empty most of the time. If you want a pool and hot tub practically to yourself, head to deck 5 and check it out in the evening. From the Piano Bar to the SkyBox Sports Bar and from the Alchemy Bar to RedFrog Rum Bar, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a drink or two amid excellent company. If you’d rather hit the party scene, check out great spots like the Nightclub, Mega Deck Party or the Limelight Lounge.
Spa & Fitness
Fully accessible rooms are stair-free, flat-threshold cabins, which offer wider (32-inch) doorways, turning space and bathrooms equipped with grab bars and shower seats. Carnival Jubilee's demographics run the gamut from families with young kids or extended family groups to groups of friends, couples and even solo cruisers (even though it doesn't have any cabins for singles). There’s also a waterslide and several hot tubs scattered throughout the ship (including in the Serenity adults-only retreat). Originally launched in 2005, Carnival Liberty is approaching its 20th birthday, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that this Conquest-class cruise ship is lackluster due to its age.
The Second Roller Coaster at Sea: BOLT
It traverses an 800-foot track that climbs and crawls, dips and swings over the deck at up to 40 miles per hour, sometimes reaching as much as 187 feet above the ocean. A unique feature allows guests to choose their own ride speed, allowing for greater personalization of the experience. One of the most talked-about features aboard Mardi Gras is the first roller coaster at sea, dubbed BOLT and part of the ship’s open-air recreation area, called the Ultimate Playground.
At publishing date, Mardi Gras is the ninth-largest cruise ship in the world, outranked by seventh-place ship AIDAnova from AIDA Cruises by a mere 2,000 gross tonnage. The cabins also have a fun nautical décor that sets them apart from other cabins onboard. Playlist Productions are Carnival’s signature song-and-dance shows in the Liquid Lounge (the ship’s main theater). They’re short, running about half an hour, and often spill out into the lobby for a toe-tapping after-party with ship passengers. The shows also make creative use of LED screens and high-tech special effects. Cruise Radio prioritizes well-balanced cruise news coverage and accurate reporting, paired with ship reviews and tips.
Pack a jacket and umbrella, some ports and sea days are rainy, not sunny. Carnival ships have other outer decks not commonly known to most people. These outer decks are quiet and abandoned, offering you peaceful spots, to read a book or have an intimate conversation. Depending on which ship you are on, locate deck 5,6, 7 and 10 by walking straight and out of the side doors or doors marked emergency only at the end of long hallways. Try the ones which are least crowded during the first days of the cruise and move on to the more hyped ones, when the queues decline.
With so much to do and see and experience on this ship, you’ll find that our recommendations above just scratch the surface. Other kids-geared fun can be found at Circle C, the space on Deck 17 designed for preteens, ages 12 to 14, and Club O2, also on Deck 17, but designed for older teens, ages 15 to 17, in mind. There’s also Camp Ocean on Deck 4, for kids ages 2 to 11; this area is also where you’ll find after-hours babysitting services offered. The Gateway is a brand-new zone unique to Carnival Celebration, so make sure to explore it thoroughly during your cruise.
Classes are held each day (depending on demand) – sometimes two or three per day – for groups of 18 or less. BOLT is a top-deck electric-powered roller coaster in Mardi Gras’ Ultimate Playground zone. This innovative roller coaster recently won a “Best of What’s New” engineering award granted by Popular Science magazine. Once per voyage in one of the main public areas, there is a Seuss-a-palooza Story Time, which is a reading of the Seuss book “Horton Hears A Who! ” by staff and willing kids, as well as a Seuss-a-palooza deck parade of Seuss characters. Carnival's printed FunTimes daily programs are placed outside the cabin each evening, and they are available in various parts of the ship like the guest relations desk and at the JavaBlue Cafe.
Originally built by Fincantieri in Italy, for a cost of $500 million, Carnival Liberty was christened and then rolled out in July 2005. Since then, the ship has undergone numerous renovations, including a major FUN 2.0 overhaul in 2011 that cost another $500 million. Just note you won’t get any grand view with a porthole or picture window; expect to look at the interior of the ship or something similarly uninteresting.
Entertainment on Carnival Jubilee is a combination of passenger favorites from other ships and new shows that you'll only find on this vessel. Cabanas are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. Prices vary by sailing, but on my voyage, they were $500 per day from 8 a.m. Pool lifts accommodating up to 300 pounds are available for passengers with limited mobility. If you show up during "Soundwaves Jukebox," you'll see synthesizer-like graphics pulsating to the music on the giant screens above the space. Unique to Carnival Jubilee are two new bars in the Deck 6 Currents zone.
